about

a song in our gritty saga about rock, sex and crime, this track details the story of a fed-up guitar player who decides to take matters (and some classic music gear) into his own hands.

lyrics

Well I woke, said the song has got to be born
But no instrument to guide me
So I went down the stairs and I laced them again
And put my bootheel through the tv
Well it was lined with bitches to the left of the street
And the right side teemed with bastards
But all the gangsters took their hats off to show some respect
When they saw what I was after
Now the punk at the stand n’ lean hopped in the back
Before I walked up to the counter
So I rang myself up for some jerky and coke and took a quarter roll in each hand
Well the blues guitar shop was a block from the club
Up by the parking lot there on ninth street
And mister jeff stood up, said can I help you son
Then my right hook took him off his feet
Well he never said something while I looked around
‘cause he knew I was a man of means
So I stood up on a chair, got a Gibson down
And rolled a Kustom amp into the street
Are you following the story line? I’m feelin’ fine today
Are you hanging home and killing time? Gave up my mind today.
Well I choked that guitar and I made it scream
Until you can’t tell the notes from the sirens
And there was blood on my hands from a slap or a fret
And my strings were still singing for violence
Now all the young girls were scared as they watched me play
But I knew they’d think about me later
I saw a cop coming close like a man with a net
Who is trying to sneak up on a tiger
It took four or five men
Felt like I was afire.
Are you following the story line? I’m feelin’ fine today
Are you hanging home and killing time? Gave up my mind today.
